Get a steering wheel lock to secure your car. Cars can only be driven in straight line when the lock is on.


When you are away from your car, always remember not to leave anything valuable inside that can be seen just by looking through the window


In your car, don’t overburden yourself with packages that obstruct your view and make it difficult to react in an emergency.


Do not leave original copies of your car registration and insurance documents in your vehicle. Leave photocopies instead. You might need the original copies to claim the vehicle ownership in case of loss or theft.


Always lock your car while driving to prevent unauthorized access. A locked door is less likely to pop open in a collision, which in itself will keep you safer. Contrary to general believe, locked door will not stop or delay a trained rescuer.

Don’t store valuables in the car. If you must, hide them from plain view. Exposed valuables attracts thieves and armed robbers.


Park in a well-lit area. Be observant so you can assess your surroundings and safety, especially in parking garages.


Always turn down the volume of your car stereo. You may need to pay attention to other exterior noises for your safety and security.
